Anne - TS #15

TS #15 - Anne

Date/Time:  Friday, February 5, 2016, 10:00-11:00
Location:  Lyon Country Library
Topic/Skills:  Review of “short a” and “short e”; pronunciation of "short e" and "long a"
Teacher Presentation:  We reviewed the vowels we’d practiced last week and moved on to another set of minimal pairs.  We practiced lists of minimal pairs, went around the room pronouncing individually after choral drill.  Worked on "silly sentences" that used minimal pair words in nonsensical way just to practice sounds.  Students wrote their own sentences with these words.
Feedback provided to tutee:  I modeled pronunciation many times and provided feedback to students as a group and individually.  During their sentence writing activity, I worked with each pair, correcting as needed.

Lessons learned:  I'm impressed with the fact that these students appear to be practicing on their own and home.  They are making progress.  They're more willing to try in spite of difficulty.
