Melissa W. TS#10: Arturo

Date/Time: 2.5.16 @ 1:30pm

Location: CIES room 304
Topic/Skill: reduced forms, practice self-editing essays, short timed-writing prompts
Feedback provided to tutee: correction of editing mistakes, some pronunciation clarification, reading comprehension questions
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Providing sample ESL essays with errors for the tutee to correct themselves is a good indicator of their understanding of grammar, tense used, awkward sentences, and structure. This would have been a helpful activity earlier on. Arturo has expressed before that he is less polished when it comes to writing with a focus, so we also reviewed run-on sentences and how to properly use conjunctions . We read an article about Millennials with a good amount of advanced vocab, went over the new words ( he's very good at gaining meaning from context) and did some simple comprehension questions and post-reading conversation/debate.
