Taylor TS #9

Tutee: Inhyeong
Date/Time: Friday, February 5th, 2:30-3:30pm
Location: FSU – Strozier Library
Topic/Skill: Speaking - Fluency
Feedback provided to tutee: This time I really just wanted to focus on encouraging Inhyeong to speak for an extended time without stopping too much to think, but rather just speaking her thoughts, ideas, and/or stories freely. To this end, we primarily discussed topics she shared from her classes, with gentle suggestions to adjust the more unclear sentences. I also shared the fairy tale I picked for my reading lesson plan, and we took the rest of the time to discuss fairy tales as well as unfamiliar vocab in the first paragraph of the story.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I think it definitely worked better to allow Inhyeong to simply speak rather than making it structured like a class, because she was more comfortable when it was just discussion and the occasional correction rather than a strict time allotted for speaking.
