Topic/Skill: Editing Writing Compositions
Feedback provided to tutee: My tutee had two writing compositions and journals that she wanted me to go over to look for grammar mistakes. We went over them together and every time I found an error, instead of telling her exactly what to do, I asked her if she saw if something was wrong with a specific part of the sentence. This method seemed to work since she had some of the same grammar mistakes throughout her compositions, so she was able to recognize some errors on her own. She also wanted to practice a presentation on me to see if I noticed any grammar mistakes.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:I learned that confidence is a large part of a person's speaking ability. Depending on the topic, my tutee felt confident enough to speak a lot on her own, but other topics she was unsure and less willing to speak on it. For instance, she was very comfortable to talk on the topic of her presentation, so she did an amazing job and talked more than she had to.
