Topic Skills:TOEFL Practice
Feedback provided to tutee: he wants to work on his fluency, but I feel his fluency is good. He also understands well. More of his issues were related to grammar structures and use, so he should practice more with this stuff.

Lesson(s) about tutoring/ tutee: he has a bachelors already and is trying to go to grad school here. He needs more practice with the TOEFL and its strategies.

Feedback provided to tutee: Today we went over the feedback provided by his teacher. He had trouble understading what the teacher was meaning so we went over that. I told him when drafting, meaning is most important and then to go back and edit grammar. He should work on this strategy to increase fluency.

Lesson(s) about tutoring/ tutee: He knows what he means to say, but I think he still needs work expressing his thoughts and being more creative. I would like to try more creative exercises with him because I think it could be a good skill used in his normal academic writing.

Feedback provided to tutee: he should focus more on forming sentences that are exactly what he means to say, tha’s to say better word choice. He uses words close in meaning, yet they aren’t the best choice.

Lesson(s) about tutoring/ tutee: he’s writing about his teaching philosophy since he’s studying to be and ITA. He values group activities and a lot of communication opposed to lectures, which I hope he feels is reflected in our tutoring session (communication, not lecturing).
