Michael TS#16

Tutee: Matt and David
Date/Time: 4/3 @ 3:30
Location:  Leon County Public Library
Topic/Skill:  Writing critique and suggestions (mostly for the mother), vocab review
Feedback provided to tutee:  How to use pronouns to avoid repetition, current vocab reinforcement, tips for improving upon a recent writing assignment (informational writing)
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Over the course of my time with the boys, I feel like, though most of what I've discussed was ignored, their writing performance did improve, if only a little. In general, for Matthew, he began to write just slightly more interesting sentences, and I think David has corrected a few of his grammar in writing errors. To improve myself, I would first recommend setting a better time than 3:30 on a Friday afternoon (although this was not possible with the involved parties' schedules). I should also try to make my lesson plans/writing prompts more interesting, specifically tailored to a tutee's age, personal interests, and skills; however with these particular tutees this would probably have been in vain as per my first recommendation.
