Date/Time: Saturday, Jan 16, 11:00 am-12:00 pm
Location: Tutee’s Home
Topic/Skills: Reading, comprehension, and discussion
Feedback provided to tutee: The tutee is very smart, witty, and a great reader! Since this was only a reading day, not much feedback was provided to the tutee other than occasional pronunciation corrections.
Lessons learned: This tutor was great. Although the tutor and tutee had conversations (which were always relevant to the passages) between the reading, he was also good at keeping the tutee on task and making sure he completed and understood his assigned reading. He made the session fun for the tutee by not allowing it to be strictly focused on the work. Instead, he shifted from free conversation to centered work (which proved to be very effective). I learned that making the sessions fun and engaging for the tutee by being creative and relating their reading homework to their interests is very important. Using and managing time wisely is also important.
