Date/Time: 1/11/2016
                   9:00-9:50 AM
Topic/Skill: Grammar, focused on speaking good sentences
Teacher Presentation: The teacher, Felicia Ciappetta, began with a "bell ringer" to begin the topic of the day, which was to form sentences and talk with a partner. She also used the three classroom observers as a way for the students to ask us questions about ourselves.
Classroom Management: There were only six students in the class, so it was not difficult to keep them engaged in the material. The students listened to Ms. Ciappetta and only talked to each other when they were asked to do so.
Materials: Ms. Ciappetta used the white board, a computer, and the projector in order to display pictures of words and places the students did not understand. For example, I said that I was from Atlanta, Georgia, so the teacher looked up a picture of Georgia so the students knew where it was.
Student Participation: For the most part, every student participated both when called on and when they knew the answer. I could tell the students felt comfortable to answer questions in class.
Feedback Provided: If a student did not know an answer or gave an incorrect answer, the teacher would say that it was good but she was looking for something different. I thought this was good feedback so students did not feel like they did something wrong or bad, but rather there was a better answer.
Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: I learned ideas I could use so I can be a better teacher in the future. Ms. Ciappetta would make sure the students knew what every foreign word meant before moving on, and she also was able to explain the words in a way the students could understand. I will make sure to try to do the same so I do not lose any students along the way. I also learned that repetition is key, as Ms. Ciappetta repeated the same type of questions to all of the students and by the end of class they seemed to understand how to say and answer them a lot better.
