Topic Skills: Simple past vs. Present Perfect verb tense;
Using ‘for’ and ‘since’
Feedback provided to tutee: We discussed when to use the
different tenses and verbs and practiced some worksheets that dealt with both.
She had a good understanding of the verb tenses, but had more difficulty
deciding when to use for and since, so I explained the difference to her and
the next worksheet, she did them all perfectly.
Lesson(s) about tutoring/ and or tutee you learned: We
introduced ourselves and asked each other some questions: I learned that
she is from Burkina Faso and is here to study English and Engineering; then she
plans to return to her home country. She has only been in the US for two weeks.
