Topic/Skill: Needs Assessment and Diagnosis
Feedback provided to tutee: I provided feedback to Fadia about her grammar. I did a diagnostic test on a sample of her writing to see on which level she was performing. We also worked on the present perfect tense, the simple past, and the past participle.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: This was my first tutoring session with an adult tutee, so I definitely learned a lot. Fadia is very motivated to learn English so she insists on doing repetitive exercises in order to hone her skills. She wants to work on her speaking and listening skills, but does not practice speaking or listening to English at home. She has a basic level of grammar knowledge. She has pretty good fluency when she speaks, however, she has trouble using proper spoken grammar.
