Location: CIES
Topic/Skill: Reading- Summarizing main ideas and context clues
Feedback provided to tutee:
Her speed in reading seems to be improving (although it is difficult to tell without having her read a wide variety of topics). However, she is more observant to clues that help her know what are minor details and more important details in a reading. Sometimes, she is too eager to read ahead and answer the questions that she will dismiss a question I ask her. Therefore, I have asked her to focus on what I'm asking her before she charges through some of the sections.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:
She is extremely eager and a hard worker, but she often hyperfocuses on the reading. She does not listen to the exact questions I ask her, and instead answers a more general question that she assumed I was asking. Her biggest issue is to learn not to attack the reading and focus more on the parts that matter for time and comprehension's sake.
