Feedback provided to tutee: It is essential to learn how to capture main ideas. Understanding every word in a reading will hinder your fluency and is especially detrimental if it prohibits you from understanding the main point of passages.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: My tutee is aiming to take the TOEFL exam in the near future and is very focused on improving her listening and reading. She says that she needs to improve her speed and comprehension. It can be so difficult to do this when a student struggles with many of the words in a reading passage. I am learning how to help her overcome challenges in reading comprehension.
