Topic/Skill: Reading passage and comprehension
Feedback provided to tutee: I had brought an article about a zoo for Hye-in to read and then asked her questions about the main idea, people in the article, and vocabulary.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: The zoo article was interesting for Hye-in because she likes animals, so it was much more enjoyable to read. I stopped her every other paragraph or so to ask her questions about what she had just read and her comprehension is very good. There were a handful of vocabulary words that she didn't know, however she was pretty good at guessing their meaning. It is definitely a good idea to have conversations with the tutee about their interests in order to pick out material that they would be interested in working with.
