learned: A large segment of our conversation centered around Arabic and English linguistics, such as loan words, regional pronunciation differences, and some slang. My CP actually tried to clarify some questions I had in Arabic (lunar versus Gregorian calendars and the Arabic names for each). This was much more obfuscating than it was helpful, but it was still a really fascinating exchange. Lastly, we talked about fasting and Ramadan, and I learned that since the Qur'an is based on the lunar calendar, Arab months, including Ramadan, shift every year.
