Emily - TS#2 Child

Date/Time: 1/23/2016, 12:00-1:00 PM
Location: Tutee’s Home
Topic/Skill: Reading, comprehension, vocabulary skills
Feedback provided to tutee: I was a bit nervous as this was my first tutoring session with my child tutee. We worked on reading comprehension and vocabulary skills. We mainly focused on pronunciation and comprehension the most.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:  I’m very fortunate to have the child tutee that I have. He is a trooper, and he reads very well. During this tutoring session, I learned that extra preparation (on my part) is very necessary. I also learned that staying on topic when I ask him story-related questions can be challenging at times, as he seems to tend to stray off and talk about other topics if given the opportunity. But he always willingly returns to the reading. Something I noticed is that videos really help him grasp the material better.
