Topic discussed: TEFL students and CIES students met and discussed their home country and culture in small groups and pairs.
Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned: I was able to talk to a student from China and a student from Kuwait about different facets of their culture and the influencing factors that lead to these factors. I found it interesting that when a friend or family member is sick in the hospital, it is common in China to bring them milk and fruit. On the other hand, in Kuwait it is common to bring arabic coffee and dates. I explained to both of them that in my experience, edible presents are a less common gift in the US for friends in the hospital.
