Fine Arts Building 8:45-11:00 pm
Jianmin and I talked about how he changed his schedule and how he is nervous about talking to his professor. He feels more confident when he talks to other Asian people going to school here. The lack of confidence trips him up when it comes to talking with native English speakers.
We made some clay soap dishes, and talked about the process again. He talked about what he likes to eat and cook. After that, we went into the critique lab and turned on the big screen. It took us forever to get the computer to talk to the screen; he made some jokes about being technologically impaired. We went to Star Bucks to grab a snack and some coffee.
After we got the screen to work, we watched an episode of Friends. Talking about it afterwards was a better insight into his fluency and listening skills. He has difficulty listening and comprehending pop culture. We worked our way through the episode together and then just talked about school.
