Jenna- CO #3

Date/Time: 1/14/2016, 2:00-2:50 PM
Topic/Skill: Listening- Learning to write a summary from a lecture they listened to
Teacher Presentation: The teacher presented some information about a museum they were going to visit today, with the focus on the Holocaust. Other than that, she had already presented the lecture they were then to write a summary on for 20-25 minutes.
Classroom Management: The students were respectful to the teacher and did not talk amongst themselves too much when they were not supposed to. Also, the teacher walked around the room and observed and answered any questions throughout the class.
Materials: Textbook, handout, paper, powerpoint
Student Participation: Since this was not a speaking class, the students participated by working on their summary or by taking a quiz, instead of speaking out in class. They were also allowed to quiz each other before they had to take their vocabulary quiz.
Feedback Provided: The teacher helped the students with their summaries not by answering their questions directly, but instead trying to help them remember what information was included in the lecture.
Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: The teacher let me read her guidelines for the class, so it was interesting to see how she took those guidelines and planned her class. I was able to directly see why she chose to do certain activities or assignments based on her guidelines.
