Location: Starbucks location on Tennessee Street
Topic/Skill: Listening practice for the TOEFL exam. We listened to different listening portions of the TOEFL practice exams and answered the subsequent questions.
Feedback provided to tutee: The tutee sometimes did not understand a portion of the listening dialogue, so in those instances I would never give him the answer. Instead, we would listen again to the dialogue and if he still did not understand, I would explain it in a way so he could come up with the answer himself.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:I learned that with learning another language, repetition can be the key. In the case of listening practice, I think the way for him to get better at understanding is for him to listen more with the intent to understand.
