Parker- CO #2

Date/Time: 1/14/2016, 11:00-11:50pm

Topic/Skill: Reading

Teacher Presentation: The Instructor first covered the 5-step reading strategy of SQ3R in the form of lecture with the help of a slideshow. Then text structure was reviewed with an emphasis on paragraphs and titles.

Classroom Management: When working on group activities, the teacher wandered around the room to make sure the students stayed on topic and worked on the assignment.

Materials: Whiteboard, projector, computer, textbook.

Student Participation: After the lecture the students were broken up into groups to create wh- questions about the text before actually reading it. The students then presented these questions to the class.

Feedback Provided: The teacher walked around the room to help students create their questions and then corrected mistakes when the questions were presented.

Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: There was one student in the class who seemed less comfortable with the material then the other students and the teacher made sure to spend extra time with that student during the group session. This taught me that you can not always treat the class as a whole and ignore individual needs a particular students.
