Topic discussed:
Formulation of Identity: For me, this centered around being an only child and southern. For many others in my group, it concerned family and religion.
Different Forms of Greeting: I had a discussion with a female Saudi Arabian student about how women might greet each other in different contexts.
Food: I shared my love of "haystacks" (~taco salad) when I was a kid, and I learned that one of my group members enjoyed eating snail back at home in Vietnam.
Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned:
I heard more of Arab and Muslim norms first hand concerning gender relationship and drinking. I also learned of friend relations in East Asian cultures. I shared my story of being from "the South" with my group mates and explained what that meant. We also discussed Spanish siestas.
