Hawk TS #4 Adult

For the class’s fourth session, we continued our exercise in using modal verbs. The class began with a quick review of how modal verbs work and their different kinds. In this exercise, I provided two drawings: one of a grocery store and the other of a town square. With help from the picture of the grocery store, students pointed out things that they could buy. Students used the other picture to describe places they should go. Throughout the exercise, I noticed that students would often forget to drop the “to” between the modal and base verbs so I made it a point to watch out for this error. Usually, after pointing out this error to the student, they were more conscious of future mistakes. The activity was also a good exercise to practice pronunciation. Because of the shared vowel sound in could and should, it was good chance and easy way to stress correct pronunciation of this particular sound.
