Michael TS#12

Tutee: Matt and David
Date/Time: 2/5 @ 3:30
Location: Leon County Public Library
Topic/Skill:  writing and reading
Feedback provided to tutee:  For the tutees themselves I mostly just tried to get them to figure out words they didn't know via context clues. This wasn't very applicable today since the kids picked low-level material, but I would like to practice the concep againt.  For the mother I specified what each child should be focusing on on their own: the one on vocab in writing, and the other on grammar.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: The tutees' mother wants me to work with each child separately, 30 minutes per. This arrangement was very unproductive but I still was able to see how learning styles differ, even between just two students. I was able to use this knowledge to tailor each lesson just slightly to each child's strengths, and this also helped me to come up with longitudinal feedback for the mother. Also, concerning reading, I will be bringing my own materials from now on, as children will sometimes take advantage of you and pick books far below their level.
