Michael TS #10

Tutee: Matthew
Date/Time: 1/22 @ 3:30
Location: Leon County Public Library
Topic/Skill: Review of previous writing, concision and pronouns, vocab diagnostic
Feedback provided to tutee: We talked a lot about how to use pronouns to avoid repetition in writing, although I suspect that he was conscious of this, and only doing it as a filler.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Something I need to work on is correction codes when reviewing a student's/tutee's writing. If I am working with a student/class, then I will need to provide the complete key for the correction codes, but if I am with a tutee, I should keep the codes to a minimum and just explain on the spot what I mean to say. I feel that this will be less confusing and overwhelming for the tutee, especially since I will not be working with her/him regularly enough that they become accustomed to my methods of correction. Looking back, I should have used the vocab diagnostic and fully incorporated a vocabulary tutoring plan.
