For our sixth session, PJ needed assistance with his math homework again. For this assignment, we were given word-problems that required us to convert fractions to solve them. Unfortunately, I hated converting fractions the most as a 4th grader and consequently forgot how to do it. Lucky for me, PJ knew and was familiar with how the teacher taught them to show their work. My only real job was to help make sure that he understood what each question was asking. As we were solving each problem, we verbalized each step. By doing this, at end of each question, he understood much better what the question originally was asking. Eventually, we were able to get through each question through a combination of picture drawing, and verbalizing the steps we were doing to solve the word-problem.
