Hawk CP #2

Eddie and I's second meeting was particularly interesting and really piggy-backed on a lot of things that we had discussed during our first conversation.  It really was very coincidental that not even a few days after our initial meet-up, a group of Islamic extremist opened fire on the hotel in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso's capital city. In reaction, Eddie decided to make a presentation on terrorism, its affects, who does it, and what possible solution exist to deal with this type of warfare. This really provided us the opportunity to discuss the nitty-gritty of society. It was a lot of fun. By talking to Eddie about his opinions concerning terrorism, I think for the first time it truly registered with me exactly how much of a threat extremism poses to the global community. Many times, I think Americans are used to acknowledging the atrocities of terrorism, but sometimes I wonder exactly how many feel the weight of the problem  on other countries. Also, talking with him really provided me with more insight on how other cultures react to violent acts such as the one that took place in Ouagadougou. The conversation especially made me aware how wide spread and how very intertwined the political life of Burkina Faso is with the rest of the world.
