Tutee: Matthew
Date/Time: 1/29 @ 3:30
Location: Leon County Public Library
Topic/Skill: Grammar and vocab review (of student's classwork), writing practice, some reading
Feedback provided to tutee: In this session, I really tried to motivate the tutee to improve his writing with the vocab he is learning , and especially with that which he already knows. I encouraged him to write a short story during the session, and to pretend that he was writing a story to share with his friends. Thus, it had to be interesting, use good verbiage, and follow a logical sequence. I think that the tutee enjoyed this activity much more than his normal journal entries, and I hope he saw that writing can be fun if you use your imagination.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I am much more relaxed in my tutoring sessions at this point, and now I think it would be a good idea to possibly incorporate games or otherwise make boring activities (such as journal entries) fun, similar to what we did today.
