Topic Discussed: In this session, TEFL students were paired with two international students of different backgrounds. The purpose of this was to work on a presentation for the next class describing cultural elements of the countries represented in the group.
Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and you partner learned: In my group there was a man from Saudi Arabia and a woman from Columbia. I learned that in Saudi Arabia, men greet other men with a kiss on the cheek but when greeting women there is no touch. For either sex it is common to ask how their family, children, and animals are doing if applicable. In Columbia, women greet men with a delicate handshake but greet other women with a one kiss on the cheek.
