Hawk CO #1

One of the three classes that I observed was a grammar class. The instructor was teaching low-level beginners. Therefore, the students were still learning the basic building blocks they needed to know about the language in order to produce simple sentences. On the day that I observed the class, I sat in on a possessive personal adjective and pronoun lesson. Personally, I didn't envy the instructor because I think teaching what the difference between a possessive adjective and pronoun is unpleasant and confusing for anyone involved. Nonetheless, the instructor did a great job and provided many examples exercises for the students to figure out. I particularly liked that he did much of the work on the board and showed all the mental processes he took, as an English speaker, to use possessive adjective and pronoun in his sentences. By the end, the board looked like a mess of arrows, but through the exercise, it helped give visual support to an otherwise confusing grammar point.
