Topic/Skill: intro and needs assessment (mostly writing)
Feedback provided to tutee: I gave the mother some recommendations for improving the child's writing, and explained how I was planning to focus on his writing skills. The tutee himself has a good grasp of vocabulary (receptive), but is either reluctant or hesitant to use it, so I tried explaining to him that it's important to try to diversify his writing and that it can carry over into his speech.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: This was my first session, and, though I was well-prepared, I still felt a bit nervous. Therefore, from here on out, I will mostly try to stay relaxed, as i think that will make for a more fluid and less rigid teaching atmosphere.
