Unfortunately, due to sickness and the time limitations that commuting between Ocala and Tallahassee posed on my schedule, I was not able to meet with Eddie again. However, as a consequence of this dilemma, I had the opportunity to Skype with Dojun who lives in Seoul.
We began our first conversation talking about his work in Korea and what I did in the States. I learned that he works for a domestic airline in Korea. Specifically, he works in a department that writes the safety manuals and makes sure that they are in accordance with up to date airline rules and regulations. He also described to meet a bit about city life in Seoul and the general cultural atmosphere. According to him, not everyone hates Americans. In fact, he expressed to me that Koreans very much appreciate American culture and are very friendly towards Americans(and any foreigner for that matter). I responded in kind and told him a bit about living in Florida and what daily life looks like on this side of the world.
We talked about many more things but all our conversations stemmed primarily from these two topics. I really enjoyed learning more about his culture especially because I have just ordered a few Korean learning materials to begin studying Korean and I think Dojun was happy to meet someone to practice English with.
