Michael TS #14

Tutee: Matt and David
Date/Time: 2/26 @ 3:30
Location: Leon County Public Library
Topic/Skill: Adverbs and writing
Feedback provided to tutee: The kids are doing some last minute preparations for a state-administered writing exam next week (FSA I think?), so I we did mock trials of the topic, which is informational writing. As usual, Matthew was inattentive and uncooperative, but David actually put forth a little effort to remedy some of his more immediate problems (adverbs and prepositions), which was refreshing. I gave the kids' mother a detailed plan for what each student should practice over the weekend in preparation for their test.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: This was supposed to be my last tutoring session with the boys, the overall purposes of which were to prepare them for this writing test. I am not entirely sure if I made any tangible impact on the kids, especially Matthew, but with both tutees it seems as if their approach to writing might be a little more "accepting". Mostly for this session I focused on compiling writing advice for the mother, so that she can continue my tutoring goals, and this was something I think I did very well throughout the course of our sessions.
