Michael TS #15

Tutee: Marwan
Date/Time: 2/15 @ 12pm
Location:  CIES patio
Topic/Skill:  Intros, diagnostic, composition advice, active passive
Feedback provided to tutee: We only got to meet once, in part I think because Marwan's primary concern was, explicitly, "composition advice,"  plenty of which I had to give. We talked about ways to improve, such as journaling, but I also suggested list making, for instance to-do lists to practice general actions, and grocery lists to practice food items. Lastly, I stressed that to improve written (and oral) fluency, it would help tremendously to jot down random ideas, or note when you are experiencing thoughts in English.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I really think having the session outside and with other people around helped to make the experience a lot more casual for both the tutee and myself. While this is not a bad thing, especially for an introductory lesson, I quickly realized that it is not an ideal learning environment, and will consider location when planning for future session.
