Date/Time: February 11, 2016, 6.30PM-8.00PM
Location: Mexican restaurant, Echalée
Topics Discussed: we were following the discussion we had in class
before. Since we covered cultural aspects, we kept on talking about it. Since
we were having dinner, I told her that the bars in Spain are different to the
ones in the US. I explained to my cultural partner that when I go to a fast
food bar in the US, I can see what the waiter is serving to me. Then, you pay
and you choose your drink and spices or sauces. However, in Spain, you order
the food to the waiter, and you sit down in a table until they bring you the
food. They also serve you the food and drink.
We also talked about families in the US and Spain. Besides, we talked
about different dialects too and some funny stories that happened to me with
Mexican people. Even if we speak the same language, we use different expressions,
so it causes misunderstandings. She found it very interesting. I also told her
that the food in Mexico and Latino countries has nothing to do with the Spanish
one. She seemed surprised.
