Topic/Skill: Editing writing compositions/ Speaking practice
Feedback provided to tutee: I edited a couple of my tutee's writing journals and compositions by noticing an error and trying to have her fix it without telling her the exact problem. This method worked pretty well, and if we came up on the same error again she was able to fix it on her own right away. We also practiced some timed speaking exercises, since she has to do them in class. When she first did a timed speech, she had a lot of anxiety and stopped a lot, but as she does more she gains more confidence.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Once again, I learned that the best way to tutor someone is to help them to learn it on their own, versus giving them the answer. In terms of editing her papers, she did all of the editing, I just pointed out sections that needed help.
