Topic/Skill: Suffixes, Mad Gab word game, choose the right word worksheet (building sentences), some vocab review.
Feedback provided to tutee: Ayah will ask questions when she is unsure or needs a different definition, I defined and provided synonyms for multiple words and we did a fun role-play where she chose between candidates for an EFL teaching position (she played the director). This was very cool because she explained to me what she sees as a qualified teacher, not surprisingly her number one pick was a non-native English speaker who had been teaching English for some years. She says this makes them better at understanding and expecting student needs/experiences.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Ayah is very smart and curious about proper grammar, she has asked me more than one question I cannot immediately answer ("what does the suffix 'ive' mean?"), this reminds me to study grammar I have forgotten over time and gives me an idea/plan for our next session.
