Topic discussed: Different U.S. stores

What did you learn and share with your conversation partner(s)/ How did the CP session inform your awareness of your culture?: For this session with my conversation partner, I truly realized how different our cultures and surroundings are. I know it goes without saying how different our lives have been since we’ve grown up in two completely different places, but it really hit me with this session. During our first meeting he told me that he had never been to Target. Me, being a huge Target fan, wanted to bring him to this fantastic place. I also saw it as a good opportunity to show him an aspect of our culture. As we were walking through the store I was pointing out different departments, such as clothing, media, board games, stuff for the house, and the food. I told him how a lot of stores in our country now are trying to have everything that people need in one place. I realized this is becoming a part of our culture, because all of the big department stores want to outdo each other and provide people with a plethora of different services. My conversation partner was just taking everything in. We did some grocery shopping and I pointed out some of my favorites and he told me of some things he liked as well. I’m glad I got to bring him to a new place, and share a little bit of our culture with him.
