TS #8 -adult tutee- Janire

Date/Time: February 17, 2016 - 3.30 – 4.30pm –Strozier library.

Topic/Skill: Speaking skills
Feedback provided to tutee: we were practicing English skills. We spoke about different cultures in the world. Since we had access to a computer, we were looking at the festivities in Mexico. Since the tutee is going to work in Mexico this summer, she wants to know everything about the place. So, I help her to find the cultural differences and tell her what I know about Mexico. I told her that food, festivities, parties, practices and people’s routine is different to the one in Spain. However, I previously met some people from Mexico, so I told her what I know about the place, and some tips about culture. We were speaking about the day of the dead and Halloween, for instance.
Then, I also mentioned some practices from Spain. The tutee explained me how Japanese people write and taught me some characters.

What I learned: overall, we spoke about Latino culture and also Japanese alphabet. I learn the way Asian people write and some cultural differences. I found it interesting and enriching.
