Topic discussed: King Arthur and those stories, languages
Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned: We talked about the book I was reading for class, Le Morte D'arthur, and I mentioned how Middle English is pretty different from modern English, because of differences in vocabulary or pronunciation (even grammatical structure at times). This led her to bring up how the Korean language (and hangul) came about, and the frustration where some people assume that Asians (i.e., a Korean person and Chinese person) "should be able to understand each other" just because of the origins of the languages having the same root.
