Topic/Skill: Vocabulary

Feedback provided to tutee: My tutee had a list of new vocabulary words that she wanted to review, so we went through each word and came up with a sentence using the word. For the most part, she was able to come up with a sentence, that I would then correct if there were any grammatical errors. If she could not come up with a sentence, I would say one that had a lot of context clues so she could understand the meaning of the word on her own.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned that using a new word in a meaningful way is important in order to remember that word. My tutee was able to use and understand the new words by using them in appropriate sentences, but if I just told her the meaning of the word and moved on, I doubt she would have learned them as well.
