Feedback provided to tutee:
I prepared an activity for my tutee that utilizes the vocabulary she recently missed in class and relies on her listening skills to fill in a narrative (CLOZE test-style) with a word bank she is given. I also told her to change the forms of the words (whether they be adjectives, nouns, verbs, etc.), which proved to be very successful. She did a fairly good job at the activity, but it was challenging enough where she learned a lot from it. I think it really reinforced her vocabulary and she could tell which words she was messing up. Her strongest point is her ambiguity tolerance. She does an excellent job at interpreting the story before I explain colloquial phrases or slang to her.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:
She really enjoys challenging herself with vocabulary games. Although this is true of most students, she most certainly enjoys learning the vocabulary in context rather than by long explanations and comparisons. Continuously testing her on the material and reinforcing it across our tutoring sessions will prove useful to her.
