TS #13 - Paige Dabney

Date/Time: 02/03/16, 12:15-1pm

Location:
CIES

Topic/Skill:
 Presenting

Feedback provided to tutee:

My tutee has excellent ideas for her presentation, but what I tried to help her most on is connecting those ideas and speaking more personally to her audience. Helping them relate to the material and showing the relationship between her various supporting ideas will help her improve her communication skills. She does a great job at supporting an argument. If she focuses on simpler and more logical flow of thoughts to explain her argument, she will be an excellent presenter as well.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:
She spends much of her time convincing herself on the material more so than formatting it in a way to explain it to others. It is good practice for her to have to explain something to someone else. I think it reveals to her how much she does and doesn't know in terms of vocabulary and pronunciation, two of her weaker areas. She does a very good job at relaying her arguments to me though when I give her an extensive amount of time. With practice, she will be able to more easily condense it.
