Topic/Skill: Grammar review, listening activity
Feedback provided to tutee: Fadia had asked me in the previous section to create a practice exam for her upcoming grammar exam. I included most of the concepts that she had learned in this session including all forms of the past tense, all forms of the present tense, the simple future tense, and information questions. She found this to be very helpful even though she had pretty much mastered most of these grammar points by this time. After the grammar review, I played a listening recording with another cloze exercise where the speaking pace was a little bit faster than the previous recording. Again, I had her listen to the recording four times and then I proceeded to do some error correction.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: It was very rewarding seeing Fadia progress with her English language skills over the past few weeks. It was also definitely helpful for me that Fadia would usually request what type of practice that she wanted me to bring for the following session. Having a motivated student was definitely much easier than having someone who did not want to do their work, however I am a bit nervous to work with unmotivated students since all three of my tutees were very motivated and easy to work with.
