Date/Time: 1/24/16 @ 4:15-5:15PM

Location: Leroy Collins Leon County Library

Topic/Skill: IELTS graphs

Feedback provided to tutee: We went on the IELTS website again for this session, and I decided it would be a good idea to practice the writing section by looking at graphs and answering questions on them. Graphs are used a lot in our culture, and all over the world, so being able to read them and talk about them is important. We started with a line graph, then we did a pie chart, we looked at a table, and finished with a bar chart. Again to save time, he answered the questions orally instead of writing them down. I helped explain what the different parts meant, and how to look for trends over periods of time. It took him a little to really comprehend it, but by the last chart we looked at he had a pretty good grasp on the whole thing.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned that sometimes graphs and charts are difficult to examine because they might have a lot going on. It can be overwhelming to some people to have to look at them and answer questions.
