Jeff Grab - TS#13

11FEB2016; 12:00 - 1:00
CIES classroom
Foundations level - all topics

- Yesterday's tutoring session was successful so I utilized the same format today. The student's enjoyed it and felt it benefited them, so no reason not to do it again.
- New textbook topics used (although I think they already went over it in class). Regardless, it was extra practice and gave them a chance to ask questions if they didn't understand it the first time around.
- Columns of words with corresponding illustrations, on various topics, were read out loud by each student. Sounds, pronunciation, and comprehension were emphasized.
- Individual words that a student had problems with were written on the board for practice. The last 10 minutes was spent listening to and repeating the troubled words.
- To keep the non-reading students engaged, I pulled a random word out of the "word box" and had them either write a statement or ask a question on the board. This kept all three students engaged in something at the same time.

Lessons learned - none today. the students were on a roll!
