Child tutee

Topic/Skill: Items found in different rooms
Feedback provided to tutee: I created a worksheet for my tutee to complete during this session. I listed different rooms in the house, such as kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, and then I had a list of different items that could be found in each room. I had him tell me which room(s) the different items could be found in. For some of the words that he didn’t know, such as faucet, I explained what it was so that he could take that information and figure out where it could be found. He learned some new words and practiced the vocabulary he already knew. When we finished this activity, we found a book and practiced reading. It’s difficult to get him to read, and he wants me to read all of it to him. I have to keep explaining how I’m not the one being tutored and he needs the practice. I read some to get the story moving, but he wasn’t very motivated to read the other parts.
